Skyrim: Dawnguard Expansion Arriving On June 26

The Skyrim experience just refuses to stop. Bethesda has confirmed that the “Dawnguard” expansion to “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” is set for release on Xbox 360 on June 26.

Xbox 360 users can get “Dawnguard” (in English) next Tuesday. However, the version that will offer other European languages will have to wait a few more weeks. French, Italian, German, and Spanish versions of the game’s v1.6 patch will arrive next week, and the “Dawnguard” DLC itself will launch in those languages in mid-July.

Bethesda has been running a limited beta for the past ten days. The lucky ones who got in will get the DLC free, but everyone else will have to pay 1600 Microsoft Points ($20).

“Dawnguard” is the first major official plug-in for “Skyrim.” Both this and the next game content are exclusive to Xbox 360 users for at least one month. PlayStation 3 and PC players, however, won't see “Dawnguard” until the end of July at the earliest.

The new add-on revolves around the “Dawnguard,” an organization devoted to hunting Vampires and stopping the return of the vampire Lord Harkon, who wants to use an Elder Scroll to permanently blot out the sun.

The player can choose whether to aid the Dawnguard, or join the Vampires, becoming a Vampire Lord themselves in the process. The new quests include ‘Chasing Echoes,’ where the quest is completed by entering the Soul Cairn, and ‘Beyond Death,’ which begins upon entering the Soul Cairn.
