‘Vikings' Season 4 Air Date, News & Update: Release Date Announced; Series To Air On New Timeslot

The much-awaited release date of "Vikings" season 4 has finally been announced together with a new timeslot. The official page of the series posted "The gods have answered your pleas. The #Vikings will return Wednesday, November 30th at 9/8c on HISTORY."

In addition, History has shared a synopsis of what to expect in the remaining episodes of the season.

After the epic battle and defeat in Paris against Rollo, Ragnar's brother, Ragnar leaves and no one know his whereabouts. After what seems to be a long time, Ragnar goes back in Kattegat and plans to finish what he has started in Wessex.

At the same time, Bjorn is seen with Floki planning to do his own explorations to the Mediterranean.

According to Michael Hirst, creator and writer of the show, "This season is monumental and unlike anything we've ever done... It's not a story of one man, but a saga of Ragnar and his sons."

Several actors in the show teased their fans by posting photos and short videos about the upcoming episodes, particularly Katheryn Winnick (who plays Lagertha)

Nielsen reports the series drew 6 million viewers in the United States alone, the highest number of viewership in all broadcast network for 18 to 49 years old market. In Canada, the premiere episode drew 1.1 million viewers and the whole season averaged with 942,000.

The series also received positive reviews from critics. "It relies on the inherent appeal of the era and these characters to drive the story" said Alan Sepinwall of Hit Flix.Nancy DeWolf Smith of The Wall Street Journal reviewed the series as

"Not a celebration of sex and violence, but "a study of character, stamina, power and of social, emotional and even intellectual awakening".

"Compelling and robust new drama series delivers all the expected gore and blood spatter" according to Hank Stueyer of Washington Post.

Vikings is a co-production of Take 5 Productions and World 2000. History channel broadcasts the series in the U.S. while MGM Television distributes it worldwide, outside of Canada and Ireland. It is produced in association with Corus Entertainment.
