Cyberpunk 2077 Confirms 2 Development Grants, Making It More Ambitious Than The Witcher 3

Cyberpunk 2077 should be aiming high as CD Projekt Red's reputation managed to reap for itself a lot of success in a very short period of time, compared to veteran developers, is indeed nothing short of astonishing.

The studio's highly acclaimed release of The Witcher 3: Wildhunt sprung it high into centerstage as one of the (if not the only) most brilliant teams in the gaming industry, and gamers, expectedly, are now very eager to feast on the company's queued RPG as soon as possible. However, the much awaited Cyberpunk 2077, is still going to take a long time to be realized, Game Rant reports.

As a matter of fact, it would be easier to list the number of the game's elements that fans don't know of than to list the features that they are aware of. Cyberpunk 2077's development has been cloaked in mystery since it came to light but a recent dev grant application coming from CD Projekt Red may have finally have poked a small opening with regards to details on the studio's objectives for their next game. The developer is applying for several grants with regards to "seamless multiplayer" and "a complex technology for creating a huge living city".

While these gigantic concepts can sound more like exaggeration than what really is in development, take note that CD Projekt Red has already claimed that Cyberpunk 2077 is to be more ambitious the The Witcher 3.

The 'living city' development grant seems to be for generating technology that could help create a massive open-world city that will adapt and change according to player decisions over the game's course. This kind of technology isn't really new, what makes it interesting is that it will now be in CD Projekt Red's hands, a developer with much reputation; ergo good things are more probable to happen.

On the other hand, the grant for a 'seamless multiplayer' technology is somewhat new. This would be the first time CD Projekt Red would tackle multiplayer, aside from the Witcher spin-offs, it should be exciting to see what the studio is capable of.

What comes out by then may not include all these features as lots of bumps are expected, but given the information about these development grants, we will have something to look forward to. Flying vehicles perhaps?

Cyberpunk 2077 is ongoing development for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
