Open-world slash sandbox type games tend to be appealing simply because they entitle the gamer some freedom to do almost anything similar to the real world.
One of the niftiest features on Mafia 3 is that you can pick up radio stations that would imitate real world radio. Music is a very important part of video games these days and proper tunes can cast the mood. Hanger 13 and 2K games will provide players a range of different music options to cruise around New Bordeaux while playing Mafia 3. New Bordeaux provides a convincing and authentic feel for the game.
Grand Theft Auto is probably the most known game to gauge Mafia 3 with. GTA provides plenty of options for players to listen to and obviously Mafia 3 will not be planning to come up short on this aspect.
You will be able to listen to a number of Mafia 3 radio stations where each of the stations has a unique playlist. In a dialogue with We Write Things, Hangar 13's creative director and studio head, Haden Blackman, talked about the music choices players will have in Mafia 3.
"We have three distinct radio stations in the game that each have their own playlists. Combined, they provide a very eclectic range of music from the late 1960s - we've got over 100 licensed tracks in the game altogether. I think that everything absolutely belongs to the setting, or helps us tell the story," Blackman said.
Mafia 3 will have licensed tracks as well as original soundtracks for the game. Jim Bonney and Jesse Harlin are currently creating Mafia 3's soundtrack to nicely complement the included licensed music.
How about picking up escorts?
Unfortunately for those expecting, Blackman expressed that one thing gamers cannot do in the game is to pick up escorts, unlike what is usually offered in GTA games. The reason:
"Early on, we decided that everything Lincoln does either furthers his quest to take down the Italian mob or build up his own criminal family. So, while you can take over prostitution rackets in the city, Lincoln doesn't have the time or desire to partake," Blackman said.
Mafia 3 will be announced soon for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
