‘Sword Art Online Movie: Ordinal Scale’ To Be Released Worldwide; New Trailer Revealed

It has been reported that the new "Sword Art Online" animated movie will be released at the same time in various theaters worldwide. The announcement was made just this Monday by the anime film's publisher, Kadokawa.

As confirmed by staff working on the anime film, "Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale" will be released in 1,000 theaters all over the world. Australian company, Madman Entertainment has also disclosed that it will be releasing the animated movie in theaters in Australia and New Zealand.

Along with that news, Aniplex USA recently revealed a new trailer of "Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale." The trailer is subbed with English translations and it finally discloses scenes from the movie, giving fans a sneak peek of what they will be getting from the new SAO film.

The film is an all new story written by the original author, Reki Kahawara but the trailer showed that familiar characters from the anime series will be appearing in the new film.

The plot of the movie has not yet been fully disclosed but it has been initially reported that the movie will be set after the second season of the anime series. The story as of now revolves on a new game called Ordinal Scale, which brings the main characters to experience a new augmented reality device called "Augma".

"Sword Art Online" is a Japanese manga, which was adapted into an anime series in July 2012. The anime series ran for two seasons. After becoming a hit sensation among both anime fans and gamers, "Sword Art Online" has ventured into several spin-offs and gaming platforms. Its latest installment is the new Japanese animated film, "Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale," which will feature new characters as well as the old ones.

"Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale" is planned to be released on February 18, 2017.
