Galaxy Note 2 Coming on August 29, Confirms Samsung

Samsung's much-rumored next generation Galaxy Note is coming on August 29, confirms the company.

While we earlier reported that the company might unveil the Galaxy Note 2 device this August 15, now the South Korean electronics giant has officially announced to unleash the sequel of its highly successful 'phablet' at Europe's biggest consumer electronics trade fair IFA.

"We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29," a Samsung spokesman said on Friday.

According to South Korean media reports, the latest Note 2 will pack in an unbreakable 5.5-inch display with high resolution Super AMOLED variety. The phone might come with higher WSXGA+ resolution (1680 x 1050 pixels) with 360ppi pixel density. The next generation phablet is also expected to feature a better and more powerful quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, Android's latest Jelly Bean operating system, 4G connectivity as standard for all international units, an improved battery and a 12 megapixel primary camera with an enhanced sensor.

The Galaxy Note 2 will be built to improve shock resistance and will offer the Human Interaction features like S Beam, S Voice, NFC and SmartStay, similar to the Galaxy S3.

Elsewhere, in a recent report, IDC declared Samsung as the ruler of the smartphone market. According to the Data Corporation's report, Samsung shipped 50.2 million phones in Q2 making a 172.8 per cent increase from the 18.4 million smartphones it shipped in the same period in 2011.

IDC also stated that currently the South Korean vendor enjoys the highest market share with 32.6 percent thanks to the success of Galaxy S3 and Note smartphones. The company's market share is almost double to Apple's 16.9 percent share.

Presently, the two titans of the smartphone are locking horns in the Los Angeles courtroom over a patent battle triggered by Apple accusing Samsung of copying the former's smartphone and tablet designs.
