Samsung Sends Media Invites for Aug. 15 Event, Hints Galaxy Note 10.1 Release

After confirming the launch of Galaxy Note 2 at the Berlin IFA event on Aug. 29, Samsung's press invites for the Aug. 15 event clearly indicate that the Korean company will unveil the much-awaited Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet on that day.

Samsung's latest press invite shows an outline of a tablet created by some pen strokes and the words "Meet the new way" written on the device. Unless the company has some other tablet up its sleeve, the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet is headed our way.

After making a brief debut at this year's Mobile World Congress back in February, Samsung's Galaxy Note tablet went through a lot of major redesigning.

According to rumors, the refurbished Galaxy Note tab will sport a dimension of 256.7 x 175.3 x 8.9 mm and will weigh 583 grams. The device's screen will be 10.1 inches with 1280 x 800 pixels Widescreen PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen (with 149 ppi pixel density). The tablet will have 1GB RAM and 16/32/64 GB storage capacity along with a microSD card slot that can be expanded up to 32GB.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet will run Google's latest Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, feature dual-core Exynos 1.4 GHz processor, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, dual-band, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth version 3.0 with A2DP, USB version 2.0, and have a Li-Ion 7000 mAh battery.

According to rumors, the new tablet will also have 3.15-megapixel rear-facing camera (2048x1536 pixels) with LED flash and autofocus features. It will also sport a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling.

Samsung, reportedly, plans to pack in the Stylus Pen with the device and will also add Stylus Pen-oriented apps.

The press conference is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. EST on Aug. 15. All eyes will be on Samsung as it gets ready for its much-touted launch.
