GoogleHome Is Gaining Ground Over The Amazon Echo: Here's Why

It has been two years since the Amazon Echo was first released online. What came with the smart speaker was a way to ease the everyday lives of its users, beyond the standard responsibilities of a speaker. It was because of this - and more - that the device was so popular. But with GoogleHome, these things might just change.

As Inquisitr notes, the Amazon Echo came with the company's virtual assistant, which was called Alexa. When it came out, Alexa was praised for its varied capabilities, which ranged from purchasing digital music to making shopping lists and setting reminders. In essence, buyers did not simply attain an effective speaker, but also an efficient assistant.

However, Google has just released what could be the Amazon Echo's best competitor. On October 4, the search engine giant revealed GoogleHome, a smartspeaker much like the Amazon Echo, which will be available without the hefty price tag. It also comes with its own set of features and abilities.

As HNGN notes, GoogleHome is compatible with five smart home integrations, which makes it easy to connect to for a number of various users. These include Google Chromecast, Philips Hue, Nest, SmartThings and IFTTT. However, this list is likely to expand as the the device is more widely used and demanded.

One other feature that sets GoogleHome ahead of the Amazon Echo, is the virtual assistant. The smartspeaker from Google is capable of accessing the user's "My Day" feature, which is already full of the user's daily activities and schedules. It also is able to access Google Maps and other such applications that help with making the owner's day easier.

But if there is one thing that will truly put the GoogleHome ahead of its competition, it will likely be the price. Not only does the new device deliver, but it does so at only US$130. Meanwhile, the Amazon Echo retails for about US$180.
