MacBook Air 2016 Will Be The Last Of Its Kind, But Why?

Rumors have just come reporting that Apple's MacBook Air Series will now finally be discontinued and will now be put to stop in terms of upgrades and upcoming versions. This was, in large part, due to the already similar devices that are already existing, which includes the MacBook Pro, the iPad Pro, and Air.

Speculations swirling

Right now, Apple fans continue to follow the much-anticipated revealing of the fully-overhauled MacBook line-up, whether it's the Pro or the Air. When Apple held their huge tech event last March, several expected that the tech giant will finally be giving hints to one or both variants. It can be reviewed that the last time the devices were updated, it was in 2015.

Waiting in vain

It became a huge shock for a majority of people when Apple released a very disappointing upgrade for the MacBook Air, which only composes of an additional 8GB onboard memory. However, the anticipation was still hyped during the company's September event, but it turned out to be just the announcement of the iPhone 7.

The Mac Air 2016 will be the last of its kind

With a number of updated devices already being launched, along with tablets and laptops almost being the same thing, Apple fans are now foreseeing that the company will now be paving a way towards a new line-up of MacBook Air.

According to some tech bloggers around the web, Apple will finally be discontinuing the Air series, both for MacBook and iPad to pave the way towards a new product, which will make it very clear that the MacBook Air 2016 will be the very last of its kind.

This move makes sense that Apple ought to not plan on releasing any iPad Air 3 now that the iPad Pro already has its 9.7-inch variant. At the same time, a new MacBook Air will also not fit into the picture since Apple will be releasing a thinner and lighter MacBook Pro.

According to Cook

Apple CEO Tim Cook mentioned that "there would be a time that consumers will not be opting for a PC anymore, the people in the future would most likely purchase tablets or smartphones."
