Logitech Introduces Washable Keyboard K310

Logitech has introduced a keyboard that will put an end to water spillage and damage worries. The global provider of personal computer accessories has developed a water-resistant and washable keyboard, K310.

Logitech claims that the two-toned black and white color scheme K310 keyboard can be immersed in up to 11 inches of water. "Hand wash only. Use mild soap and a soft cloth in warm water less than 30cm (11 inches) deep and less than 50°C (120°F). Do not wash in dishwasher. Do not use abrasives, alcohol, solvents or harsh detergents. Do not submerge the USB cable. Follow washing instructions in the Quick Start Guide," instructs the Web site.

The keyboard is equipped with drainage holes for speedy drying and the keys are laser-printed and UV-coated to protect the physical appearance of the device. The company asserted that the keyboard will last for five million keystrokes.

"We've all experienced that moment of distraction -- followed by panic, when a cup of coffee or a soda spills all over your keyboard. Because life and its messes will happen, regardless of how careful you are, Logitech designed the Logitech Washable Keyboard K310 to look and function like new, even over time," averred Sophe Le Geun, senior director of mice and keyboards at Logitech.

However, the company warns that the unit is wired, so the USB connector should be kept nice and dry. The keyboard is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

The K310 will hit the U.S. market this month with a price tag of $40 and will arrive in Europe in October.
