Scarlett Johansson Wants ‘Black Widow’ Movie To Happen

The fans of the Marvel universe have time and time again asked for a stand-alone film for everyone’s favorite femme fatale, Black Widow in which Scarlett Johansson, who plays the character has even voiced out her support for the move.

Fans' heads went rolling when news finally came out whether or not a “Black Widow” movie should happen as everyone has actually been wanting to see one. But it seems like producers of the Marvel movie series do not think it is the right time yet. Johansson thinks otherwise since she believes the movie has enough angles to build a decent storyline.

According to Yahoo! Movies, Johansson has pointed out that her character, Black Widow has really rich origins story. “You can bring it back to Russia. You could explore the Widow program… Or not. It could be something else. Where do the Avengers go? They are underground. What happens then? What happens after it all falls apart? There are so many ways you can go,” said the 31-year old actress.

Johansson also pointed out that studio has already greatly invested in Black Widow’s character that there is so much potential for a stand-alone “Black Widow” movie. Black Widow has appeared in most of the Avengers movies, including the solo movies. Johansson owes most of her box office success to her impeccable portrayal of Marvel’s Black Widow so it is no surprise if the actress wants to explore more her character.

Johansson pushing for her separate movie most likely attributes as well to the fact that most of the female superheroes fans see in movies are only in supporting roles. But actress Brie Larson has evidently broken that streak when she was given the lead role to portray Captain Marvel, also known as Ms. Marvel, in her own film. Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures have yet to release an official comment regarding the matter of a potential "Black Widow" movie.
