Battlefield 4 Details Emerge – Arriving On Next-Generation Consoles

While “Battlefield 3” is still counted as one of the dominant first-person shooter titles of the current generation, new information has divulged more details on the existence of “Battlefield 4.” Per reports, a Chinese forum called Chiphell, via Electronic Arts China, has leaked the possibility of the next “Battlefield” game.

As expected, the rumored game is set to run on the Frostbite 2 engine, and will be released on the next-generation consoles. However, this is not the first time that the game has been mentioned on the web, as the whereabouts of “Battlefield 4” were leaked earlier via Origin, as well as information that there’s a beta coming soon, which the fans can access by buying “Medal of Honor: Warfighter.”

The game, per Neogaf, is expected to arrive on Oct. 23, 2013 and will also be released on the current generation platforms as EA would want to make the most out of the current generation Xbox and PlayStation as long as they are in production, as most of the gamers will still be running the current gen consoles. Interestingly, the game is also expected to finally add Battlecorder.

The leaked information states that this will be one of the first games to run on next-gen consoles and that the player’s profile can be linked with other devices, like an iPad. Other details indicate that the game will have an auto logging option, alongside support for cloud and multiplayer, and that a continuous Internet connection will be needed to make the most out of the game's offerings.

Support for video playback and sharing, support for body and voice control for the commander system (that is set to make a comeback in the new game) will also be available. Moreover, as many as three factions will exist – U.S., Russia and China – and players will have the option to deploy female soldiers. What’s interesting to note here is that already a demo of the game is available within EA with, apparently, a “modern” background.

DICE is yet to comment on the current development.

This information regarding “Battlefield 4” is new, especially after it was reported in July that EA had announced access to the exclusive beta for “Battlefield 4,” to players that pre-order “Medal of Honor: Warfighter” Limited Edition prior to the game’s launch on Oct. 23.
