The road to Wrestlemania begins in the Royal Rumble. It is the pay-per-view where WWE superstars are tested by their smarts and cardio.
The epic Royal Rumble match could last for more than an hour. The match will start with two participants in the ring, drawing number one and number two in the 30 man battle royal. Every 90 seconds, a new superstar will join them in the ring. Elimination will occur when a superstar is thrown over the top rope with both feet on the floor.
The sequence will stop until the number 30 entrant is already in the ring. The last man standing will be crowned the Royal Rumble winner and will qualify for main event Wrestlemania. A lot of careers were made on this inaugural event. WWE Legend and Hall of Famer, Stone Cold Steve Austin, still holds the most number of wins in Royal Rumble history. The Texas RattleSnake has 3 wins under his belt.
Some notable winners of the Royal Rumble Match are, The Master of 619, Rey Mysterio, The Viper, Randy Orton, The Undertaker, John Cena, and The Cerebral Assassin, Triple H, who won the Royal Rumble Match and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Royal Rumble By The Numbers
There are at least 36 WWE Hall Of Famers who have competed in Royal Rumble Match. Together, they headline 25 main events in Wrestlemania. Kane holds to most elimination of Superstars in history. The Big Red Machine has more than 40 eliminated superstars in his career.
Roman Reigns made history when he eliminated 12 superstars in one single night. Rey Mysterio also made the history books when he lasted for 62:18 and ultimately winning the match. The number 27th entrant is considered as the luckiest as it already produce 4 Royal Rumble Winners.
Surprise Entrants For WWE Royal Rumble 2017
Royal Rumble has and always been, one of the coolest pay-per-view in sports entertainment history. The place where fans and wrestlers a like are surprise on who will be the next entrant. I'll be listing 5 possible WWE Superstar surprise entrant and let's start with, Kurt Angle.
The only Olympic Gold Medalist and The Wrestling Machine is number one on my list. The soon to be Hall of Famer was last seen in a WWE ring last 2006. The fans are clamoring of the wrestling machine and various reports stated already that they are on the move with their negotiation talks.
The enigmatic rock star like superstar have said before that he is willing to comeback to WWE. Although he is currently signed by TNA, the former WWE champion's contract is about to expire and one last WWE run is what all fans wanted.
Rey Mysterio left the company with variety of reasons. According to reports, he left the company on his own liking. However, The Master of 619 confirmed the other way around. Things were not that smooth between Mysterio and WWE but we are not ruling out his in-ring WWE return.
The Shaman of Sexy already stated that he is eager to return in WWE. There are no confirmations yet on both sides if they were able to finalize a deal. But seeing him in the Royal Rumble will be one of the best surprise entrants.
The athletic big man from SoCal is already wrecking havoc down in NXT and fans are almost tired of him not being called in the main roster. If there's a perfect time for Joe to step up, Royal Rumble is the best place for him.
