Uber Next Project: Could Be Called “Uber The Sky”, A Flying Car Service in 2026

Uber markets and operates the Uber mobile "app", which allows consumers with smartphones to submit a trip request, w sends to the Uber driver nearest to the consumer, alerting the driver to the location of the customer, and Yes, Uber now takes the next big leap and plans to offer flying car service in 2027

The ambitious project, which was first reported by Wired, would be a giant leap forward for a company that has already fundamentally altered the way we think about labor, transportation, and startup valuation. But more importantly, it could prove to be a way to literally transcend the daily headaches of intercity travel.

A two-hour-and-12-minute slog from San Francisco to San Jose would become a breezy 15 minutes by flying car, Uber theorizes. A two-hour-and-10-minute battle through Sao Paolo gridlock would be transformed into an 18-minute pleasure ride, according to The Verge.

Uber isn't trying to see the world with autonomous flying cars, yet. Using multiple rotors cuts down on noise pollution and gives the vehicles a degree of redundancy if a motor were to fail explained by IBT Times.

Uber realizes there are a lot of complications. In its white paper, Uber lists a number of issues it's concerned about: battery technology, vehicle efficiency, vehicle performance and reliability, cost and affordability, safety, aircraft noise, emissions, takeoff and landing infrastructure, pilot training, air traffic control, and the certification process.

Jeff Holden, Uber's product chief, told other sources that Uber's intent "is to help the industry get there faster." In other words, Uber wants to do for flying cars what it did for the taxi industry It could be very expensive flying cars, however, Uber can find a way to make on-demand flying car service, on the other hand, Uber anticipates fares starting out in the $120 range but eventually dropping to $20.

Well, Uber believes that Elevate could be rolled out within the next five to 10 years. That is hugely ambitious, verging on the impossible But as Uber well knows, it's also greatly captivating, and the company's fans are really looking forward to the project seeing the light of day.
