Tom Hanks ‘Inferno’ US Box Office Opening Starts Weak; Movie Actually A Robert Langdon Love Story?

Tom Hank’s latest Dan Brown movie “Inferno” is not doing that well in North America as it opened just this week. Meanwhile, people have claimed that the latest Dan Brown installment is actually Robert Langdon’s love story cloaked in a mystery thriller movie.

“Inferno” has opened in theaters in the US just this Oct. 28 and its box office opening is off to a weak start. The third Dan Brown movie installment was expected to earn at least $25 million after opening in 3,546 theaters all over North America. Unfortunately, it only made $800,000 on its Thursday night previews and is predicted to earn up to only $18 million by Halloween.

The current box office ranks of “Inferno” is a far cry from its two prequels, which did better in their respective premieres. The first movie, “The Da Vinci Code” garnered $77 million on its opening in US and $224 million worldwide, making it the best domestic movie opening for Tom Hanks and producer Ron Howard. Meanwhile, the second movie, “Angels & Demons” had the best record as it reached $77.1 million in the US box office on its opening and became the highest-grossing film for 2009 for its worldwide box office of $486 million.

Inferno though was released overseas two weeks ahead of the US schedule when it made its official debut on Oct. 8 in Florence, Italy. Despite the grueling numbers “Inferno” is seeing in the US box office, it is actually still doing quite well internationally as it has at least earned $49.7 million on its overseas opening. “Inferno” is still yet to be released in France on Nov. 9 and has recently opened in China and Japan on Oct. 28.

While “Inferno” is struggling in the US box office, people who have seen the mystery thriller movie is claiming that it was actually a love story, which viewers did not expect. Dan Brown movies are famous for its plot twists and the ones in “Inferno”, though not that good still gave viewers a surprise as it revealed that Langdon’s sidekick, Dr. Sienna Brooks, who followed Langdon through thick and thin to find the bad guy, was actually in love with the evil genius bad guy, Bertrand Zobris. Aside from that, the movie also revealed that Langdon and agent Elizabeth Sinskey dated for a while before and tried to see if things could still work out between them.

“Inferno” is an American mystery thriller movie based on the Dan Brown novels. The third movie was released October 2016 and stars Tom Hanks, Felicity Jones, and Ben Foster.
