‘Starship Troopers’ Movie Spoilers, News And Updates: Creators Of ‘Baywatch’ To Resurrect The Popular Cult Movie

A report recently revealed that the "Starship Troopers" movie is being resurrected by Columbia Pictures. If all things go smoothly as planned, the film franchise is going to be extended beyond the direct-to-video sequel program. This will be welcome news to all fans who love the original movie and its sequels.

Hollywood Is Taking Another Crack At The Box-Office With This Film Franchise

Scriptwriters of "Baywatch" the movie, not the TV series, Mark Swift, together with Damian Shannon were tapped to write the screenplay of the "Starship Troopers" movie reboot. The military-science story of the 1997 film was written by Robert A. Heinlein and was turned into a blockbuster by the Dutch director Paul Verhoven.

That first movie starred Denise Richards, Neil Patrick Harris, and Casper Van Dien. It was well-loved by fans then, but it is unclear if this reboot will also enjoy the same success. Casting for the "Starship Troopers" movie reboot is not yet revealed.

The Producers Are Hopeful That This Project Will Also Break The Box Office

Neal H. Mortiz is tasked to produce the "Starship Troopers" movie reboot. He was the producer of the very successful "Fast & Furious" film franchise. Mortiz will be helped by Toby Jaffe who previously assisted him in producing the remake of "Total Recall," another sci-fi movie in the 1990s.

The New Film Will Be More Faithful To The Original Story

The new "Starship Troopers" movie reboot will be closer to what was written in the book where the film was based. The previous films were more like adaptations and Verhoven had even mentioned that they missed the mark. This is sort of an advice that Swift and Shannon would want to consider. As of this writing, no director has been tapped yet for the film project. Watch the video below to get some teasers of this upcoming movie.
