Left 4 Dead Unfinished Campaign Now Available For Free; Better To Split Up Than Sticking Together In This Scenario

There is still no news about a Left 4 Dead 3 but the developers of the game, Turtle Rock, has released its unfinished campaign "Dam It" and it's already available for download now. The game's co-founder Chris Ashton has posted a link to the update. Anyone who owns the game can play it for free.

The download link of the new campaign is posted in Turtle Rock forums, which links to a third-party source for download. Ashton's post also states "some code features are missing but it's playable from beginning to end. It also includes two standalone survival maps that never shipped."

How to Download the New Campaign

There are a couple of ways to get the new campaign running, one is to automatically update the game by unzipping the downloaded file and double clicking it for an automatic launch. The other way is to unzip the file but copying its content over the "addons" folder of Left 4 Dead. According to reports, the add-on may cause some issues as code changes are not included but as stated by Ashton, it's still playable. Some of the issues noted are panic mode not triggered on explosions, zombies inconsistently crawling, and bridge not collapsing after the explosion. The complete list of issues can be viewed on its web page.

New Scenario Best Played By Splitting Up

The new scenario is said to be better played when players split up rather than sticking together and working as a team. The campaign starts in an airstrip location that leads through an apple orchard, into a narrow gorge, then to a covered bridge, a campground, and a hydroelectric power dam for the big finale. Reports claim that working independently will make it easier for the players to slay the zombies and survive the scenario.

There is no news yet when Turtle Rock will release the next Left 4 Dead game. The studio's latest game Evolve has also been taken off of development and is only being operated by 2k Games.
