Use Of Smartphones And Tablets During Bedtime Harmful For Kids? Here's Why

In today's highly modernized world, technology is not just a mere product that has a lot of uses. Rather, this can now be a means to keep in touch as well. Email, video call and chat; these are just some of the ways technology can be utilized. But, how does it really help us in maintaining a well-balanced life? A recent study finds that the use of smartphones and tablets especially during bedtime can actually trigger the disturbance of sleep patterns especially in children even though these gadgets may be switched off.

Recent Study Proves Electronic Gadgets Can Disrupt Sleep Cycle

According to NHS Choices, in a study participated by 25,000 children, they found a probable link which suggests that there are significant associations between electronic gadgets such as smartphones and tablets to disturbed sleep patterns, poor quality of sleep, and daytime sleepiness. 

As per I4u News, experts have recently found out that the use of these electronic devices during bedtime period can lead to certain effects such as a lesser duration of sleep, lesser chance of renewing the senses in sleep and generally speaking, may also lead to a total loss of concentration during daytime.

Lack Of Sleep Can Pose Health Risks In Children

Experts from the King's College London has also claimed that sleep is usually an underrated factor that plays a vital part in children's growth and development. Furthermore, it follows that with a regular occurrence of the lack of one's sleep can also induce a number of adverse health risks in the future. 

Meanwhile, researchers have highly emphasized that sleep disturbance in childhood years is noted for its negative health impacts which includes poor diet, obesity and a lot more. The lack of sleep has also been recently linked to several mental health issues; which can greatly affect the child's performance in school and in everyday life.
