Clash Royale Guide: How Chest Drops Work

Clash Royale is now one of the most popular mobile apps in 2016 and for new players, and even to some that have already played the game, chests may seem to randomly come by but actually, this is not the case as the system follows a "Chest Cycle" which revolves around a pattern of specific number of chests in a set period of time. In order to fully understand the chest cycle and how you can be aware of future drops, let's elaborate the chest cycle and explain how chest drops actually work.

Clash Royale Complete Chest Guide

For those of you that still don't know how Chest Cycle work, this guide is for you! Credits to Voltized for giving an elaborate detail regarding the Chest Cycle especially the 500 Chest Cycle, which most from the community aren't aware. In this guide, we'll be talking about the three different Chest Cycles (Legendary, Epic, Super Magical, Silver, Gold and Giant chests have their own set of respective cycles).

Brief Explanation to Chest Drops and the 240 Chest Cycle

First off, let's start explaining how chest drops work. In Clash Royale, chest drops is not random. The system follows a 240 Chest Cycle pattern which starts at 0 and ends at 239. During 240 cycle, you are guaranteed to get 4 Giant chests, 4 Magical chests, 52 Gold chests and 180 Silver chests. After reaching your 239th chest, the cycle resets back to 0. A compilation of the chest cycle can be found here.

The 500 Chest Cycle

Unlike the common chests, Super Magical, Epic and Legendary chests follow a random 500 Chest cycle. And just like the previous cycle, this one starts at 0 and ends at 499. But there's no compilation of the specific time where each chest will drop as they randomly drops within the 500 chest cycle. It is important to note that only one of each chest drops within the 500 cycle - meaning, if you get your Legendary chest first then the next one within the 500 cycle will be the Epic chest and then the Super Magical chest until you reach the 500 cycle where it'll then reset to start the cycle anew.

Chests in Shops

As you may have noticed, both Epic and Legendary chests appear in shop and only the Epic chest can be bought via gold. Epic chest contains 10 Epic cards while the Legendary chest contains a guaranteed one Legendary card. To date, there's no specific cycle for the Epic card but Voltized confirmed that the Legendary chest cycles in the shop every 21 days.
