Samsung Partners With Designer Alexander Wang

Samsung Electronics announced this month that it has teamed up with popular New York based fashion designer Alexander Wang to make the first co-created print using its Samsung Galaxy Note 2 device. The print will consist of various images and sketches, drawn or taken using the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and will be featured on a limited edition bag sold around the world. Money raised will be used to fund the award winning charity Art Start, which nurtures the creative talents of at-risk children.

"As we have found over the past 21 years, art is the starting point of a process; the medium through which change takes place," said Johanna De Los Santos, Executive Director at Art Start. With the use of the Galaxy Note 2's built in create and share feature, Wang has commissioned a group of his friends and peers, including well known photographers and other stylists to create special doodles of images, patterns or photos. The designer will then collectively use these sketches to create a print design for the bags.

"Wang's passion for experimentation, his playful sensibility and his on-the-go lifestyle are the traits that we seek to empower with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2," Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President of Samsung Mobile, said in a press release. In accordance with the beginning of New York Fashion Week, Wang is seen capturing ideas on the way from his design studio in a two minute video released Thursday called "Be Creative".

"I am most inspired from my everyday life and the people that surround me, so the idea of a co-creation with the people that I admire and respect the most is very exciting," said Alexander Wang. "This collaboration represents a new way that technology and style can come together. And, through a concerted effort, I am happy to be a part of supporting such a great charity as Art Start that embraces creativity and art in a way that can change lives."

Samsung mobile is also an official sponsor of New York Fashion Week and hosted an exclusive VIP lounge on Feb. 9 to engage and inspire the fashion elite with the power of the Samsung Galaxy line of products.
