Rockstar Games is still keeping mum about the development of Grand Theft Auto 6, leading fans to think that the game is still not in the pipelines. However, the company's head Leslie Benzies may have spilled that they are working on it now.

It was not explicitly said that GTA 6 is now in production, but it is hinted that they are now throwing ideas back and forth. It is unknown how far into development the team is in now, but fans can rest assure that they are starting on it soon, if not already.

"It comes from the idea first," Benzies said (via Know Your Mobile). "Where it is going to be set is the first question. Then that defines the missions; you're doing different things in LA than in New York or Miami."

He further explained that the map and story are intertwined. The missions depend on both the map and story, so the location is definitely a crucial part in decision-making. Rockstar still has not divulged any information regarding the setting of the next GTA installment, but it is assumed that the devs already have some ideas.

"We don't know what GTA 6 will be, but we've got some ideas," he quipped. Adding to that, the rumor mill also has ideas of its own. It is not believed that GTA 6 will take place outside U.S., though there were previous reports of Rockstar scouting Tokyo and London. It is apparently hard to achieve, so the idea of a foreign location was dropped.

Meanwhile, fans are wishing for a female protagonist to join GTA 6. Past titles have featured multiple playable characters, but they were all male. Many think that it is now time for the franchise to include the other gender, but it has to be confirmed for now.

GTA 6 may drop in 2020, if rumors prove to be true. A grand reveal, on the other hand, is expected sometime in 2018.
