After Toblerone Outrage, Maltesers Comes Next With Bad News For Chocolate Lovers

The controversy about Toblerone being recreated with wider gaps has got people furious. Now, chocolate lovers are in for another surprise as the company of the famous chocolate treat Maltesers has also made some changes to their brand.

As per reports, an observant shopper who has great experience in retail has noticed something different from the newly produced batch of Maltesers. The shopper named Steve Dresser posted his insights on Instagram to let other people know.

The concerned customer states that some shelf labels are made for the 121g Maltesers pack but disappointingly, the package only weighs around 103g. The total reduction on the package is 18g or 14.8 percent.

Dresser, known for his skill in providing useful insights and advice to his clients, has already seen too much malice in supermarket labels and actual packages. The discrepancy in the label weight and package on Galaxy counters are said to be truly cringe-worthy.

The revelation has got people talking about the product, thereby leaving the big company, Mars, no choice but to speak out about the issue.

"Like all chocolate manufacturers, we have seen the cost of raw materials rise and, while we try to absorb these pressures as much as possible, sometimes we have to make the difficult decision to reduce the size of some of our products so our consumers can continue to enjoy an affordable treat," a spokesperson from Mars stated. "Our focus is always on offering consumers our great tasting, high quality chocolate brands at the best value for money."

The Swiss chocolate producer, Mondelez International was also placed in a similar situation because of the change in the famous' bar, Toblerone's unique shape. They gave a similar reason for the sudden revision, which was to cut costs and make the best out of what they have.

However disappointing the Toblerone controversy may be, consumers should note that the change in its weight and appearance is only applicable in the U.K.
