‘Fantastic Beast’ Casts Its Spell Over The Weekend Box Office; Roars To $75 Million Ticket Sales In the U.S.

The magic spell of "Fantastic Beasts" was recently cast in the U.S. weekend box office. At the rate the movie is going, it stands to rake in $75 million in its opening. This new film based on the "Harry Potter" franchise is performing according to the predictions.

The Movie Is Set To Earn Millions

With its performance at the box office in line with the forecasts, it is believed that "Fantastic Beasts" will earn a cool $30 million. This amount includes the $8.8 million that it collected from its showing on Thursday night. The movie will hit 4,144 theaters in North America this weekend.

What The Movie Is About

"Fantastic Beasts" is a spin-off from the "Harry Potter" movie franchise. It was also written by J.K. Rowling, the author of the "Potter" movies. This movie is intended to be the springboard for five more films in its genre. The first movie tells about the story of Scamander and his efforts in retrieving magical creatures which were able to escape from his valise. They are now running wild in New York City in 1926.

Aside from Eddie Redmayne who plays the main character Newt Scamander, the movie also stars Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton, Katherine Waterson and Dan Fogler. The director of the movie is David Yates who also directed the four "Harry Potter" movies. He is already working on the second "Fantastic Beasts" movie. His direction of the film has earned him kudos from film critics.

So far, "Fantastic Beasts" is earning a whopping 90 percent score from the viewing audience. About 74 percent of the people who have watched it said that they will recommend it to their friends.
