'The Mummy' Reboot News, Updates: First Look At Universal’s First Monster Crossover Trailer; Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe Face An Ancient Evil

"The Mummy," one of the most successful films in the '90s and the early 2000s, just unveiled the latest trailer for its reboot starring Tom Cruise. The actor will take over Brendan Fraser's role in the new franchise. Cruise, who also serves as an executive producer for the film, will play someone who will be the earth's hope against a vengeful evil.

"The Mummy" Reboot Synopsis

"The Mummy" is undoubtedly one of Universal's biggest hits. This time, another ancient evil brings chaos in modern day London. A vengeful queen named Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella), who was thought to be safely buried in her crypt in the Middle East, is awakened. After the crypt is discovered, the mummy is transported to London which is where the ancient queen will open her eyes once more to seek revenge for her stolen fate.

With this looming threat, Cruise is the world's only hope. The actor plays the role of a former special operations officer, Nick Morton. Russell Crowe who plays the role of Dr. Henry Jekyll will help Cruise solve the problem with Queen Ahmanet's cursed mummy.

Universal's Monster's Crossover

Aside from that, "The Mummy" features new characters including Dr. Henry Jekyll who will play a role in stopping the ancient queen from taking revenge on the modern world for past wrongs.

Earlier reports indicate that "The Mummy" and "Van Helsing" reboot will exist in the same universe. "The Mummy" reboot will stage the return of the classic monsters including "Bride of Frankenstein,"Count Dracula," "Frankenstein's Monster," "The Invisible Man," and "The Wolf Man."

"The Mummy" is set to air on June 9, 2017. While waiting for the full trailer which will be released on Sunday, Dec. 4, watch the latest teaser below.
