However, much to fans' disappointment, he did not belong to Team Jess. In fact, he didn't belong to any of the guys' team, rather he prefers to be on "Team Rory" instead. As opposed to his rival on the series, Dean (Jared Padalecki) in which the actor himself said he was also with Team Jess.

According to Milo Ventimiglia, he understood the concept brought about by the writers that the story does not really rely on who Rory ends up with. The story was about her character, her relationship with her mother Lorelai, her career and her choices in life. He personally thought that it didn't matter if Rory ended up with Jess, Dean or Logan; as long as the point of the whole series was taken into context.
