Amy Schumer To Play Iconic Barbie Role In Live Action Film; Actress Held Own Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

Amy Schumer is set to play the role of a real-life Barbie in Sony's upcoming movie. The production team composed of Mattel and producers Walter F. Parkes, Laurie MacDonald and Amy Pascual are to put a modern touch with a mix of beauty, feminism and identity into the upcoming film.

Amy Schumer As Barbie

The stand-up comedian will star in Mattel's debut movie as a modern Barbie girl. Sony hired three writers to work on separate screenplays a year ago and among these is Hilary Winston's work. The script is carefully handpicked by the studio and is to be rewritten by Schumer herself with a little help from her sister, Kim Caramele.

The storyline will highlight a special woman who among all the Barbies feels like she doesn't belong. She is then expelled from Barbie land to the modern era to experience that perfection is found from the inside and not outside. Also, she will discover that happiness comes from believing in oneself and not in an almost impossible standard of perfection.

With those realizations in mind, Barbie girl then comes back to the land to rescue all the rest. This attempt to subvert the Barbie paradigm is the unique twist in the upcoming film. Barbie fans can look forward to another great story in the summer of 2018.

Amy's Own Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

Meanwhile, Schumer and her sister Carmele have recently treated her Instagram followers with their own kind of Victoria's Secret Fashion Show while Victoria's Angels were strutting their way to the catwalk. The actress posted a photo of them posing in their pajamas in Schumer's kitchen.

The photo was shared with the caption "Nervous for the big fashion show with the Hadids and Kylie! #sohungry #loveparis #schumersisters #oldnavythreads #modelalert." Schumer was wearing a red and white striped union suit while her sister wore red plaid pajamas alongside her. Indeed, the soon-to-be Barbie girl has a lot of amazing things in store for all her fans.
