Apple Cars: Will Apple Integrate Into Our Cars?

Does Apple want to be in your car?

On Wednesday, the tech company posted at job on its website that suggests they may be looking to join the in-car technology market.

"Apple is looking for a Software Quality Assurance Manager to drive iPod/iPhone/iPad integration testing with car stereos," said the posting, discovered by AppleInsider. "In this role you will be a hands-on manager, guiding the team to test car stereo compatibility with iOS products."

Last month, the company posted two other jobs in Apple's iOS Communication Applications Group, that focuses on "iOS Car Services."

It's not surprising that Apple is trying to head towards an automotive future full of Apple products. And although a few car companies have developed stereo systems that sync with iPods, this seems to be more than an accessory for a BMW.

Last June, Apple released Siri Eyes Free, a new feature in iOS 6. Siri Eyes Free turns the iPhone's screen off and allows users to operate the device using only their voice. And a patent filing discovered last week described a magnetic stand device that could hold an iPad upside down from a windshield. It's clear that Apple is looking to bring iOS inside our cars.

Using Siri to control car functions could be great, and if done right, could really cut down on driving distractions. Fiddling with the heat and AC while traveling at high speeds on the highway would a great function for Siri to take over on. And cycling through a playlist while barreling down a country road? You can have that too, Siri.
