Bleach' Manga Revived, Updates Announced On Upcoming Novels; New Story To Focus On Rukia And Hisagi

Though the “Bleach” manga series finally ended earlier this year, the said title has been revived after news of two novels being in the works got out. Two other known artists will be taking on the new “Bleach” arcs. It has also been going around that there are rumors that the new novels will focus on the other main character, Kuchiki Rukia.

On the latest issues of Shueisha’s “Weekly Shonen Jump”, a Japanese comics magazine, it reported updates on the upcoming new “Bleach” novels. The said novels will be worked on by Makoto Matsubara and Ryogo Narita. Makoto Matsubara has worked on several “Bleach” novels, which include “Bleach: Letters from the Other Side”, “Bleach: The Honey Dish Rhapsody”, “Bleach: The Death Save the Strawberry”, and even “Bleach: Fade To Black I Call Your Name” that was eventually adapted into an animation film. Meanwhile, Ryogo Narita worked on popular mangas such as “Baccano!” and “Durarara!!”, which were both adapted into popular anime series. He also worked on a “Bleach” light novel titled “Bleach: Spirits Are Forever With You”.

It has been announced that Matsubara is working on one of the novels and have titled it “Bleach: We Do Knot Always Love You”. The said upcoming novel will focus on Rukia and will feature her wedding with childhood friend Abarai Renji, which will be held in Soul Society. “Bleach: We Do Knot Always Love You” is set to release on Dec. 27. Matsubara also focused on Rukia in the novel “Bleach: The Death Save the Strawberry”.

The second novel, which Narita is working on, has been confirmed to focus on Shuhei Hisagi. He is the character well known to have several features on his face, which consists of three scars under his eye, a number 69 tattoo that commemorates Kensei Muguruma saving him from a Hollow, and blue strip tattoo just below his other eye that goes all the way to the bridge of his nose. The story in the new untitled novel is set to take place when Shuhei is forced to deal with a mystery that Kaname Tosen left behind. It was also revealed that this novel will finally tackle the stories of the four noble families in Soul Society as well as divulging more information regarding the Soul King, Arrancar, and the Fullbringers. The novel is set to be published sometime next year.

Reviving the story of “Bleach” through releasing new novels will indeed be a treat to avid fans after going through an untimely end of the said manga. Kubo Tite first published “Bleach” in August 2001 through “Weekly Shonen Jump”. After 74 volumes and going through many delays, the manga eventually met its end in August 2016.

The manga, which spawned several adaptations, centers on the life of a high school boy name Kurosaki Ichigo, who turned into a soul reaper. Rukia and Ichigo’s paths crossed while the former was on a mission and in order to save Ichigo and his family, Rukia lent him her powers and made him evolve into a human soul reaper. This event unfolded a broad story that would take Ichigo and Rukia into a series of adventures and form a deep friendship.
