Did Shigeru Miyamoto Teased Something With His Samurai Mario T-shirt?

Shigeru Miyamoto, Reggie Fils-Aime, and Bill Trinen of Nintendo were present at The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon within this week. They served as guests of the show to give its audiences a sneak peek of the upcoming mobile game title Super Mario Run, and a presentation on TV of the demo of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Switch.

Miyamoto even played with the guitar, and he performed the Super Mario theme music with the The Roots, Fallon's house band. Gamers were quick to notice Miyamoto's shirt that featured an image of Mario donning a Samurai costume. Trinen tweeted about this after the episode aired. This was noticed even if the viewers' attention were focused more on the new Switch footage, since Miyamoto's shirt seems to be teasing something.

It was reported by Polygon that the shirt was worn by Miyamoto for a second time now, especially during a press event in New York the day after their guesting. Miyamoto is known to don simple and light clothes, but he sees to it that it will be noticeable. This is similar to Hideo Kojima's move when he wore a T-shirt that has a D.S print on it, right after the world debut of Death Stranding during the 2016 E3 event, as reported by Game Rant.

As of this time, there are two fan theories about the shirt that are going against each other. There are fans who think that Mario's Samurai costume could have something to do about Super Mario Run which will be launched on Dec. 15. There is also a reader in the comments that posted a zoomed-in screenshot of Miyamoto while he was wearing his shirt. Based on the image, the game logo can be noticed to be printed at the bottom. It looks similar to the official logo of Super Mario Run, although it is too crinkled.
