Pokemon GO Has A Pikachu Santa Claus Coming To Town

Pokemon GO is getting Christmasy as the holiday season draws near. It is releasing a limited edition Pikachu with a holiday theme. Players can find Pikachu in the game.

Holiday season seems festive among Pokemon GO players as Niantic decides to release a series of updates and additions. Aside from Pikachu donning a holiday-themed look, the developer also added new Pokemon into the game.

"We’re also looking forward to celebrating the season with our community by introducing a Pikachu wearing a festive hat, providing Trainers the opportunity to get out and explore their neighborhoods with friends and family as they gather for the holidays," Niantic said.

Not only will Pikachu have the holiday look but a great number of Pokemon will also be released donning Santa's hat. So which Pokemon do you think will look better like Santa? The holiday-themed Pokemon GO characters will be available from December 12 10AM PST until December 29.

Also on December 12, players can now have Pichu and Togepi. If you think that's all, you're mistaken because Niantic also added more Pokemon form the Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver series.

Niantic announced through a press release that these new Pokemon are only available by hatching eggs and not to be caught. The eggs, of course, can be acquired from PokeStops.

Kei Kawai, director of product at Niantic Inc. Expressed his thanks for the support the Pokemon Go community has extended. He also added that the additional Pokemon which are native to the Johto region from Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver is just the beginning of how many more Pokemon the company will add in the coming months.

He said that they are "delighted to start rolling out select Pokémon for them to hatch" as well as many more for "Trainers to continue their Pokémon GO adventures." However, Niantic did not specify what Pokemon will be added aside from Pichu and Togepi.
