Super Mario Run Is A Bit Pricey At $9.99; But It’s Worth It

Super Mario Run is Nintendo's newest and first leap into mobile gaming. Today marks the official day of Nintendo's new game going live. But with a tag price of $9.99, Super Mario Run as a mobile game might be beating the price bar a little too high. Nevertheless, Nintendo's decision to sell their new mobile game for such a price is worth it. We will tell you why.

Same Old Mario, But With Added Features

The new Nintendo mobile game looks very similar to the original Mario game we are all familiar with back on the NES. But of course, there are a few changes to be had with the new title that Nintendo has just released.  One, Super Mario Run is a side-scroller adventure game that makes Mario automatically run once you start the game. Way, way back, Tim Cook visited Nintendo's HQ in Japan to try out Super Mario Run. As a mobile gun, Nintendo's pride is that you can play the mobile Super Mario with just one hand. Basically, your 10 fingers is more than enough.

Game levels can be replayed as you wish and you can save your game data thanks to the online connectivity that the game requires. The online connection is also the reason why Super Mario Run can be played solo or with other players. You can also access your saved game anywhere - as long as you do so on an iOS device - and play any time you want. However, this will not work if you try to access your saved game on two devices at the same time; there just has to be one. Besides, you will not be able to access the available Super Mario Modes; Kingdom Builder, Toad Rally and World Tour, unless you have a connection.

More Challenging Game Modes

Super Mario Run has three major game modes that you can play. In the Kingdom Builder mode, you can create your own Mushroom Kingdom by buying decorations and buildings. But you have to have coins first from the first two modes, Toad Rally and World Tour. In Tour Rally, you have to compete with a ghost opponent set at a time where they are the fastest and race off against them.

If you make plenty of cool jumps in Tour Rally, your star meter will be filled and you can unlock the Coin Rush that will in turn fill your path with coins for you to collect. Lastly, you have the World Tour. This game mode is the core of Super Mario Run and what you have to do aside from collecting coins is to jump over obstacles as they get harder and harder on each level.

More Playable Characters To Unlock

Even from previous adventures, Mario is seldom alone in games. Of course, Mario will be your starting character to play. In Super Mario Run, you can unlock three more friends to do the running and help Mario. You get the high jumper Luigi, the fast runner Toad or Yoshi who adds a little bit of extra when he jumps into the game.

Super Mario Run may sound just like the mobile version of the original Mario game that all of us loved. But yeah, there are several changes to the game that you might want to know. First, playing the game with one hand means you have to learn the basic controls on how to Jump, Wall Jump, Slide, Climb, collect Bubbles, use Pause Block well together with Super Mushrooms and Stars.

Is Super Mario Run Really Worth It For $9.99?

Is the $9.99 purchase for Super Mario Run worth it? Nintendo feels that it is. Besides, the full access will bring you six worlds with 24 courses to finish so there's a lot of gameplay for you to cover. So yes, there are more to Mario in Super Mario Run than meets the eye. Don't let its high price fool you and make you miss the opportunity to play one of the best - and maybe greatest mobile game - from Nintendo.
