Microsoft Wants A More Conversive Skype, Expects Talking Chatbots Next Year

In August 2016, Microsoft added five chatbots to its popular messaging application, Skype. Today, the company announced that they are brewing another upgrade to better help users in their daily task. Next year, they plan to give voice to chatbots, enabling them to talk like a real human being.

The Talking Chatbots Will Make Interactions Like Everyday Conversations

April of this year, Microsoft has brought an A.I.-powered bot to Skype. According to the company's official blog site, this added feature, compatible with Android, Windows, Mac, and iOs, is designed to make messaging easier and faster. For now, it basically helps people get things done through communicating directly via Skype chats. But in the year to come, people no longer have to type on their keyboards to ask for assistance from the chatbots. All they need to do is to speak. In an attempt to make conversations sound natural, the application will use natural voice controls, too.

Skype's Added Functionality Is More Than Just A Talk

The Cortana integration lets chatbots do different things such as identifying persons, underline important messages, and even adding events to calendars. Aside from these, it can also perform a variety of task simultaneously like booking travels or hotel rooms. As for the future plans of Microsoft, they want the talking chatbots to be able to use video, audio, and add GIFs in chat.

More About The Chatbots and Skype

For Microsoft, the bots are a handy feature that is great for those who are looking for seamless interaction. Whether it is searching for a flight or finding the cheapest concert tickets, people need not navigate various web pages. The chatbots are currently offered in different countries in the world such as Australia, Canada, UK, Ireland, India, New Zealand, Singapore and the US. Aside from these, they are stuffed in many home appliances, too.
