Refurbished iPad And iPad Mini Now On Sale

Folks looking to buy an iPad or iPad Mini just got a bit of a break. Apple is now selling refurbished fourth-generation iPads and iPad Minis in its online store at a discounted rate.

Customers can choose from the black or white 16GB iPad with Wi-Fi-and-Cellular. The price for the particular refurbished iPad is $50 cheaper than the regular model.

Those looking to buy the refurbished iPad Mini will find it at $429, which represents a $30 drop from the regular $459 price. Selection for the iPad Mini is also limited to 16GB with Wi-Fi-and-Cellular.

A refurbished device is one that was previously owned and then returned to Apple. Some of the time, the device has malfunctioned but then was fixed by the company. Other times, however, the device was simply returned by a customer who thought it didn't work or didn't need it. At that point Apple can't resell the device at full price.

In cases where it has been repaired, however, Apple says the device goes through a thorough process before resale, including re-testing, cleaning and re-packaging. The company says that consumers will find "a fully functional unit with complete documentation." All of the refurbished devices also come with a one-year warranty.

Apple began selling the refurbished iPad 3 in August. In October the company released the iPad mini and fourth-gen iPad in the U.S.

The refurbished iPad features a 9.7-inch Retina display, 5-megapixel iSight camera, 1080p HD video recording, Dual-core A6X chip and 10 hours of battery life. The refurbished iPad Mini has a 7.9-inch display, 5-megapixel iSight camera, 1080p HD video recording, Dual-core A5 chip and 10 hours of battery life.

Apple has been rumored to be releasing a number of new devices in the near future, including the iPad 5, iWatch, iPhone 5S or 6, a second-generation iPad Mini and a MacBook Air.
