'Orange Is The New Black' Season 5 Updates: Major Characters Confirmed Their Return, Crew Going Back To SHU?

The Netflix original series is already set to comeback next year and some of the fans can’t wait for it. If they will follow their recent timeline, OITNB should be released by June or July next year.

Orange Is The New Black Back To SHU?

Okay, before we proceed about discussing some of the characters return in the SHU, we need to know if all characters opted to do another season of the show. Before it was announced that there will be a season 5 of this streaming series, some of the actors were not totally buying the idea of coming back to do one more season. However, we already have the list of characters who confirmed their return. Taylor Schilling as Piper Chapman, Laura Prepon as Alex Vause and Michael Harney as Sam Healy were the first one’s to acknowledge their return.

This was followed up by some of the characters such as Kate Mulgrew “Red” inmate, Uzo Aduba as Crazy Eyes, Danielle Brooks as Taystee, and Dasha Polanco as Daya. Last season, the producers presented a darker and meaner series in which favored the prison guards. A mainstay character died last season and there were a series of riots due to inmates fighting back against the cold hearted new jail system led by Piscatella.

Daya’s Actions Last Season And Its Consequences

If you watch last season, Daya held Humphrey and McCullough at gunpoint. She held them as hostage as she have seen enough about what is happening inside the facility. In an interview with hollywood reporter, Dasha Polanco who plays the role as Daya, explained if she will pull the trigger.

“Yes,” Polanco says. “I think Daya’s definitely experiencing some postpartum depression. She might pull back and think about being a mother and not wanting to miss the opportunity of being with her child. But a woman going through postpartum — at that point, they’re very fragile and very sensitive.”
