Online Leak Reveals Details About New Asus Premium Convertible Chromebook

Asus seems to have a new premium convertible Chromebook on the way, according to online leaks.

Asus Upcoming Premium Convertible Chromebook

According to Android Headlines, one of the most popular models of Chromebooks on the market is the Asus Chromebook Flip. This is a well-made convertible that comes with good performance. It also was among the first few Chromebooks that offered the possibility to download and run Android apps from the Google Play Store.

The popular Asus Chromebook Flip is not considered as an overtly premium model. But now, Asus seems to prepare to launch a premium Chromebook model.

According to Chrome OS news site Chrome Unboxed, a listing for a previously unannounced model, the ASUS C302CA has leaked Asus' latest Chrome OS hardware. The listing briefly went up on Newegg on Monday, Dec. 26. The upcoming premium device has some design cues resembling Asus' Transformer Book and ROG lineages, as well as Google's Chromebook Pixel lineup.

Upcoming Asus Chromebook's Specs

In the meantime, the listing has been removed, but not before leaking the full specs and details of the upcoming Asus Chromebook. According to The Verge, the C302CA will come with a 12.5-inch, 1080p touchscreen. The premium display of the premium convertible Chromebook can flip around in order to allow using the device as a 2-in-1 convertible tablet.

The C302CA is powered by a 2.2 GHz Intel Core m3 processor. The premium Chromebook also supports a full conversion to USB-C, featuring two USB-C ports. It's likely that the USB-C ports could also be used to charge the device. The Chromebook also feature a microSD card slot.

The specific model configuration leaked on Newegg offered 64 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM for a price tag of $499. However, at the moment is still unclear whether that's the only configuration offered by Asus for the new model.
