‘Double Dragon IV' Trailer For PlayStation 4 Revealed; Looks Like Long Lost Classic Video Game

It seems like there is no end to a lot of classic video games series coming back these days as another familiar popular one is getting a new title. Techno Japan’s “Double Dragon” is coming back to gaming consoles next year for another round of action and saving damsels in distress.

It has just been announced that “Double Dragon IV” will be released in the early quarter of next year. The said upcoming video game is the fourth main installment of the franchise. It should be noted that it should not be confused with the actual fourth installment developed in the series, which is “Super Double Dragon” also known as “Return of the Double Dragon” that was released for Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992.

“Double Dragon” started off in 1987 when it was released exclusively for Arcade. Back then, Techno Japan still owned the rights to its development but come 2015, Arc System Works bought the rights to series and will be the one developing and publishing the new “Double Dragon IV” video game. Just in time before the month of its release, Arc System Works dropped the first trailer for the anticipated classic game and it did not fall short of making avid gamers nostalgic.

The teaser trailer, which can be watched below, features the familiar gameplay clad in 2D graphic animation back in the 1990s that fans have seen and grown fond of. It seems like the original characters of the video game series will be reprising their roles namely Billy Lee and his twin brother, Jimmy Lee. Billy Lee is the character garbed in blue gi (term used when referring to clothes used in Karate) and Jimmy Lee is the one in red.

“Double Dragon IV," as depicted in the said trailer, is going to be released on Jan. 30, 2017 to coincide with the video game franchise’s 30th anniversary. The upcoming beat-em-up video game will be made available for the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows.
