Castlevania Moving Forward With TV Series?

2016 saw the release of two movies that were adaptations of famous video games, "Assassin's Creed" and "Warcraft" Though the titles were highly anticipated, both movies were nothing short of a letdown. News has it that another classic video game is getting the adaptation treatment, but this time around, instead of moving to the big screen, the developers are planning on adapting it for television.

According to Game Fragger, there have been plans to adapt classic video game franchise Castlevania into a TV series. "Adventure Time" executive producer Fred Seibert is said to be helming the project, and he had this to say about Castlevania: "We have a project right now that we're doing that needs to go unnamed, based on one of the most world-famous video games of the last 30 years, that we've had in our shop for 12 years without being able to get it started... But there were great characters and a great story, and eventually we got it going." Though there is no outfight mention of Castlevania, it is known that Seibert holds the rights to the franchise, and the description of the series does have Castlevania written all over it.

This also isn't the first time news on the Castlevania series has come out. "Dredd" producer Adi Shankar had posted about the series last year, and said that he was working on it with Fred Seibert and Kevin Klonde. He described the series as "dark" and "satirical," and he also says that the series would "flip the vampire sub-genre series on its head."

Though video game adaptations haven't really been a hit, there are still various plans into adapting them into video. As of now, Hollywood plans on dishing out a reboot movie of Tomb Raider starring Alicia Vikander, and Sony is moving forward with Shawn Levy's Uncharted movie.

No official release date has been released for the Castlevania TV series, but fans can expect more updates on it as 2017 goes by.
