Diablo 3 Darkening Of Tristram Full Guide, Mechanics, Things You Need To Know & How To Access It

In commemoration with its series' 20th anniversary, Blizzard Entertainment has rolled out the latest update for Diablo 3 which comes with Darkening of Tristram that will transport players back to the original 16 levels of Diablo 1. Also known as the Anniversary Dungeon, this event will annually occur every first month of the year starting 2017.

Darkening Of Tristram

The Darkening of Tristram event arrives with Patch 2.4.3 for Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. The update comes with fixes for to items, game modes and classes. With the event, players can delve deeper into classic enemies of the series through battles, discover new loot and bonuses, and tick off brand-new achievements.

The event in particular is set in a dungeon designed to take players back to the original Diablo. The installment's graphics and sound have been reskinned to mimic the atmosphere of the original title wherein players can only move to eight directions. The 16 levels in the event include original Diablo bosses The Butcher and Diablo himself. The Darkening of Tristram event will be live for the entire month of January. Since this is already an annual event, the game will have a forerunner event from Jan. 1-3.

How To Access Darkening Of Tristram

The Anniversary Dungeon kicks off in Act I. From the Old Ruins waypoint, go south to lead you to Old Tristram. In there, you'll find a portal labeled "Tristram." Go inside it and you are now officially entering the new event. Notice the old vibe of the new world. It recommended to enter the event with a new level 1 character, not to mention Blizzard Entertainment gives away rewards who'll do so.

Note that Darkening of Tristram has 16 levels wherein you need to take down fours bosses: The Butcher, Skeleton King, Arch-Bishop Lazarus and Diablo, The Dark Lord. You can face The Butcher is its room on Level 2. His threshold of its room has blood on it. On the other hand, you can find Skeleton King on Level 4 in his room, specifically in King Leoric's Tomb. Meanwhile, don't worry about where to find Arch-Bishop Lazarus and Diablo because you can't miss them.

Rewards And Bonuses

Throughout the event, players can earn weapons, gems and more for completing challenges and killing bosses. Ogden's Sign and Ogden's Brew, both Banner elements, are given to those who can take down all four bosses. Red Soul Shard, a Transmogrification weapon, is dropped right after finishing Diablo. The Butcher's Cleaver, a Transmogrification weapon, is dropped after beating The Butcher.

Wirt's Leg, a Transmogrification weapon, can be crafted during this event. To do this, look for the Black Mushroom on level 9 and click on it to get a Rotten Mushroom. Locate Adria's Hut in Old Tristram and toss the Rotten Mushroom inside the cauldron to get Witch's Brew. Find Farnham, Ogden, Pepin and Griswold and click on them in this order. Griswold will drop the plan for Wirt's Leg. Go back to town and teach it to the Blacksmith. Search for the plan under the Maces section. Other rewards include The Royal Calf and The Butcher, both Pets; Classic Demon Portrait; and Classic Angel Portrait.
