Theresa May Denies Claim Of Humanitarian Crisis In NHS Hospitals

Theresa May states that contrary to the British Red Cross claim, Britain's hospitals are not facing humanitarian crisis.

Although the prime minister acknowledged that the health service was under a lot of pressure, she vehemently denied claims that there is a crisis facing NHS hospitals throughout the country.

In December, NHS trusts have issued alerts that they are struggling to cope with demand.

The British Red Cross helped with support of the health service with patient transport. According to the organization, the government should take immediate steps to stabilize the heath service due to lack of resources and overcrowding.

According to Prime Minister May, there are pressures seen in the NHS. These pressures comes amid an ageing population and is particularly seen between health service and social care.

According to her, the problem has been ducked by government over a number of years and her administration has taken immediate steps to ensure best practice in the NHS according to a report by the Independent.

British Red Cross chief executive Mike Adamson has branded the situation a humanitarian crisis. He said that the Red Cross was called on to help get people home and free up much needed hospital beds.

Emergency volunteers were deployed and they even had to call on their partner, Land Rover to lend vehicles to transport patients.

Adamson went on further to say that he calls on the government to allocate immediate funding to stabilize the situation and plan to create a sustainable funding in the future.

Theresa May however disagrees with the British Red Cross assessment of the situation.

Professor Keith Willett, NHS England's director for acute care however stated that the situation is not on an international scale of humanitarian crisis.

He further stated that demand is at the highest level ever and the planning is more comprehensive than it has ever been as reported by the Mirror.
