Battlefield 4 (BF4) is an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE) and published by Electronic Arts. EA announced BF4 in July 2012 but did not confirm a release date; however, Microsoft indicates that the game will release in late October 2013.
Microsoft has accidentally spilled the beans on the release date of one of the most highly anticipated games of 2013 by saying on its blog that the game will release on Oct. 29, 2013. The sequel to Battlefield 4, BF4, is expected to be released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and next-generation gaming consoles.
"Only in Battlefield can players go through a building instead of around it, eject from a jet and take out the enemy mid-free fall, or flip a tank. DICE, a studio of Electronic Arts, announced that Battlefield 4 will arrive on the Xbox 360 on October 29, 2013," notes Xbox blog.
However, it seems that Microsoft has identified the error and since then amended the blog to give no release date.
"Battlefield 4 incorporates many of the series' popular multiplayer game design elements into the single-player campaign. In single-player, gamers will experience huge environments, a playground of destruction, access to an arsenal of vehicles, and the ability to direct squad mates. Taking a page from the social aspect of multiplayer gaming, the single-player mode will now track players' progress via leaderboards, adding an element of persistence and friendly competition to the campaign," according to the Xbox blog.
EA released Battlefield 3 released on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2011. It should not come as a surprise if BF4 is released on Oct. 29, 2013, as the date falls on a Tuesday and most games release in North America on Tuesdays.
Players will learn how to work together in both the Campaign and Multiplayer modes, issuing squad orders and comparing achievements in both experiences. The game uses the Frostbite 3 engine, which EA states creates a new standard for interactive entertainment in 2013.
