Resident Evil 7 Updates: Download Size Is Not As Heavy As People Expected

No game in the horror-genre has made quite the name for itself like Resident Evil (Biohazard in Japan), and a lot of fans are excited for the release of the Resident Evil 7 next week. Some, of course, are curious as to how heavy the game is going to be in order to clear out space for their hard drives ahead of time, and it looks like the game won't be that heavy.

According to Gaming Bolt, Resident Evil 7 has a download size of 20.6 GB. That may not be hefty as any of the more modern games coming out, but 20 GB already makes RE7 one of the heaviest games in the franchise to date.

The lighter file size actually might get some people worried about Resident Evil 7 and its contents. Some may think that the game might feel a bit lacking after all of the hype. The good news is, some early reviews for the game have also been posted and have been saying that RE 7 is a "fantastic" game.

Granted, the review was based on the VR version of Resident Evil 7, but fans can still pick-up on some of the common elements that will be present in all the other platforms. The story for the game is said to be far from the common Resident Evil-type plots, but it was still considered to be very enjoyable, despite the confusing ending. Emiratendo, who posted the review, said that he took 9 hours and 5 minutes to complete the game in Normal Mode - and he also said that it was a pretty solid length for any Resident Evil game.

Resident Evil 7 is also compared to the RE remake, and the reviewer says that players who enjoyed the remake would likely enjoy RE 7 as well. Though the game may not be as scary as its predecessor, it still offers a lot of scares and interesting twists.

Resident Evil 7 is set for a release on Jan. 24.
