Resident Evil 7 Development Is Not Intended For Nintendo Switch

For the past years, Capcom has indeed developed a productive coordination with Nintendo, and there was a time when they have signed a timed-exclusivity deal for the creation of original games for GameCube. Through this, there were already three Resident Evil titles. Capcom is consistent in supporting the Nintendo hardware ever since the time of the NES, thus fans might be surprised should they know that Resident Evil 7 is not being developed for the Nintendo Switch.

According to Resident Evil 7 producer, Masachika Kawata, during his interview with Express Online, that is such the case. Although there are no present plans in bringing Resident Evil 7 into the Nintendo Switch, Kawata is still positive when it comes to the hardware, thus there is still a chance that the game could be later on ported into the system.

There might be some fans who will be disappointed upon learning that Resident Evil 7 is not under development for Nintendo Switch, but it is still justifiable that Capcom is being cautious about the device, according to Game Rant. The sales of Wii U has been a disappointment, thus Capcom may still wait for the Nintendo Switch to obtain a larger install base before deciding on porting it into AAA games for the device. This approach is just reasonable for the view of those third-party publishers, however this promise of Nintendo for strong third-party support makes it less believable.

The lack of third-part support is one of the many reasons that has been linked to the Wii U's disappointing performance, thus Nintendo tries their best to redirect the thought that the console is just meant for those first-party gamers only. Despite this, many third-party publishers are worried about the Switch, since the system will be launching only six games on its day one so the rest of the titles might just be coming directly from Nintendo.
