Nintendo Switch Getting Some Third Party Games But Not Many AAA Titles

Nintendo Switch is getting a number of third-party games but not the AAA titles usually found in Xbox One and PS4. Find out the reason why many outside developers are hesitant to include their games in the Switch.

The Wii U Experience

It seems a lot of third-party developers are hesitant to come out with a game for the Nintendo Switch. For example Capcom recently announced that it's not developing Resident Evil 7 for Nintendo's latest gaming platform, according to Gamerant. This may come as a surprise to some people since the developer has released three Resident Evil installments for Nintendo's Game Cube. Biohazard 7 producer Masachika Kawata hinted though of possible porting at some future date but offered little specifics.

Industry observers and fans also hope that the Switch will not suffer fate the same as the Wii U. The reason why the latter failed is due to its limited game library. Nintendo has stocked it with a lot of its titles but compared to its rivals, it's a paltry selection. This time, the initial Switch game titles are out but fans out there are hoping for more. There are also upcoming major third-party such as Skyrim and NBA 2K18, according to Eurogamer. None of the AAA games though that Xbox One and PS4 players used are included.

Still Underpowered

Reports have come out that the Switch has more processing power than the Wii U. The Nintendo platform though, is still underpowered compared to its current rivals. For example, Titanfall 2 developer Respawn said that the Switch is not powerful enough to run the game. The reason why the Japanese company did not made the specs up to par with its competitors is a question that begs to be answered.

Particular Target Market

Some believed that the Nintendo officials are satisfied with Switch current specs. This is possibly due to the belief that Nintendo has a specific target in mind that excludes players who like big AAA games. There is this notion that the Switch is geared for children, families and those who like to use handheld devices.
