We reported earlier that Samsung may be holding back the Galaxy S4 Mini so that its release date coincides with the rumored iPhone 5S, allegedly launching in June.  According to new rumors though, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini release date might not be holding out for the iPhone 5S after all, and in fact may be gearing up for a full reveal by Friday.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini popped up on Samsung's website back in March, so while an eventual product launch has been all but a certainty for some time now, we've yet to receive an official release date.

While SamMobile is typically reliable with its information, the most recent Galaxy S4 rumor should be taken with a grain of salt, since the rumor is not very well corroborated. SamMobile seems to be attributing the information to "insiders of SamMobile," whatever that means.

Like the Samsung Galaxy S4, the Galaxy S4 Mini will likely debut in two colors: Black Mist and White Frost. Additionally, rumors suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will launch with two configurations: a dual-SIM version that will run on a dual-core processor, and a single-SIM version that uses a quad-core chipset and supports either 3G or 4G LTE.

If the new SamMobile rumors are true, you can expect that the Galaxy S4 Mini will have a release date sometime in May or early June - well ahead of any anticipated iPhone 5S launch.

As far as specs, the Galaxy S4 Mini is rumored to come with a Super AMOLED display like its full-size cousin, only the Mini's will be 4.3 inches - still larger than the 4-inch iPhone 5. It will run TouchWiz on top of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and will boast an 8-MP rear camera.
