The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Electro Costume Revealed (Photos)

Photos from the New York set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 were released Tuesday showing Jamie Foxx in costume as one of the film's villains, Electro.

Foxx's Electro costume isn't quite what you might be expecting if you're a fan of the comic books or even the Spider-Man cartoon series: the costume, at least what's visible in the photos, consists primarily of blueish-purple metallic skin, raised veins and some funky contact lenses.

Fox is also wearing a black hoodie with some rhinestone-looking objects lining the fabric. The rhinestone-y objects light up and definitely make for a cool effect.

Basically, he looks creepy as hell, but that's probably the intention. The scary take on Electro's costume in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is something Fox touched on way back in December, in an interview with BlackFilm:

"It won't be green and yellow. It will be a different color. They (the producers) want something for the future. They want to have it more grounded and not as comic book-y, so it won't be green and yellow. They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down and trying to figure out what happen. How did he become this way? So, it will be some new stuff."

We've now seen the "new stuff" and new direction is nothing if not intriguing. Additionally, both Andrew Garfield and Marc Webb have repeatedly talked about how good the Spider-Man 2 script is, so hopefully we're in for a good film.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is slated for a May 2, 2014 release date.
