Sony Xperia Tablet S: Jelly Bean Update (Android 4.1.1)

It's been a long wait, but Sony Xperia Tablet S owners are finally getting some Android Jelly Bean action - Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 to be exact. According to Sony's official blog, the Sony Xperia Tablet S would be receiving the Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 update sometime between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. Say goodbye to your Ice Cream Sandwich.

Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 brings a number of significant upgrades to the Sony Xperia Tablet S. The updated Xperia Tablet S apps include Walkman, the Movies app, Scrapbook and the Browser. Additionally, user interface improvements have been made to the Camera and Album app and the on-screen keyboard now supports Portuguese. For fans of Google Now - the Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 update will push that feature as well.

The Sony Xperia Tablet S will also be getting the new TV SideView application with the Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 update, which allows users to control certain other Sony devices with the Xperia Tablet S.

"We are please to announce the release of the Jelly Bean update for the Xperia Update which will be pushed out to our production server on April 18th 2013 between 9am - 10am pacific standard time.

The Xperia Tablet will receive a notification on the bottom right hand corner that a System Update is available.

This release will be for the United States, Canada, and Latin America Region.  Please check with your specific region support page for your release time.
