Jawbone To Leave Consumer Wearables Market, Will Favor Clinical Services Instead

Jawbone is a wellness band maker that initially began in headsets and later made speakers. It has relinquished offering and supporting consumer hardware taking after a storm of poor audits and media reports that the company has come up short on cash.

According to TechCrunch, Jawbone is planning to move its business once more. The company is focusing on the low-margin fitness bands, which will be sold directly to niche customers. It also aims to deliver the bands to a high-edge business-to-business and business-to-consumer model. The fitness bands will be sold basically to clinicians and health suppliers working with patients.

'Raising' More To Success

As a major aspect of that change, Jawbone is attempting to raise more cash. The company is directly in talks with its new vital investors in the medical sector, which is alongside new financial specialists outside the U.S.

The fitness band company declined to remark the amount it is raising. The company to date has raised what looks like $951 million from the financial investors. This include Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, JP Morgan, Mayfield and Khosla on the list of investors.

The Fitness Bands

The Jawbone fitness band is a fitness device that monitors the user's health. It even monitors the heart rate and the regular activities. The fitness band features the Resting Heart Rate, which indicates and provide an overall heart health. It also features Passive Heart Rate, which tracks the heart regular intervals throughout the day.

It provides data about the routine stress and external factors that may affect the heart health. It offers Bioimpedence sensors, which measure the electrical currents in the skin to give a real-time heart rate readings.

The fitness bands come in four models, the Up Move, UP2, UP3 and Up4. The four bands can tract calories burned, sleep and vigorous activity data. It can also automatically run as a smart coach. The battery life can range from seven days up to six months. It is also water resistance and can be synced wirelessly with other monitoring devices.
