Hearthstone Update: New Patch Nerfs Two Notorious Cards And Revamps Ranked Play

The new "Hearthstone" update will help struggling players rank up easier without the fear of dipping too low. On the other hand, it also balances two notorious cards.

New System Coming to Ranked Play

According to Kotaku, Blizzard recently announced the new changes for their card game. Firstly, there will now be floors in ranked play. Players who manage to reach a certain milestone, say 5 or 10, will no longer be able to dip below the said rank for the current season. This seems like a welcome addition to the players who fear that their rank will drop too low.

On the other hand, there are also two balance changes coming for two notorious cards that will ultimately affect the meta. Specifically, these two cards are the Small-Time Buccaneer and Spirit Claws. Needless to say, these two said cards have a heavy impact on the overall game.

Two Balance Changes in "Hearthstone"

PC Gamer reports that Spirit Claws will have its required mana increased from 1 to 2. This will help balance out the Shaman decks during early-game board control while still making the card useful. This way, players cannot play Spirit Claws on the first turn while activating Hero Power for a 25 percent chance of using the Wrath of Air totem.

On the other hand, the Small-Time Buccaneer will now be easier to kill as its health is decreased from 2 to 1. This is a massive nerf on the card's part as even the Mage's hero power can simply knock it off the field. Because of this, it prevents pirate decks from using this card without Mages immediately killing it off.

Blizzard has yet to reveal when the said changes will hit the official game. However, they claimed that it will come around the end of the month or so. Moreover, it also seems like this will be the last change before "Hearthstone" gets its next expansion which could be the "Lose Secrets of Un'Goro."
