'Riverdale' Season 1, Episode 5 Spoilers: Cheryl In Danger? Betty Discovers New Secrets

New dark secrets will be revealed with Jason's funeral just around the corner in "Riverdale" season 1, episode 5. Meanwhile, the episode will also introduce a new character, Raul Castillo as Archie's new music teacher.

In "Riverdale" season 1, episode 4, fans saw the departure of Miss Grundy from Riverdale after Betty discovered a different ID and a gun in her car -- well, that is apart from her one-on-one sexy "lessons" for Archie. However, her mysterious character is yet to be solved. She might still have something to do with Jason's death.

The official synopsis for "Riverdale" season 1, episode 5 via Spoiler TV revealed that the Blossom family will do some last-minute preparation for Jason's funeral. However, somebody has a secret agenda. Betty (Lili Reinhart) will go deeper in her investigation of the incident and she will discover some dark secrets of her family. Maybe her mother has something to do with Jason's death. Alice harbors hatred for Jason for breaking Betty's heart.

Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) is having a tough time accepting her twin brother's death. She will develop a friendship with Veronica (Camila Mendes) who reaches out to her. Meanwhile, the promo for episode 5 teased Cheryl might be in danger. The clip showed her talking in her brother's memorial. The scene then shifted to Cheryl screaming and a hand reaching to strangle her... and then there's blood.

Archie's (KJ Apa) will try to refocus his attention on football. However, it will be halted as a new music mentor comes to replace Miss Grundy. Raul Castillo will play the role of big city songwriter and visiting professor in the series. On the other hand, Hermione (Marisol Nichols) will receive a mysterious message from the Southside Serpents and turn to Fred (Luke Perry) for help. Previously Hermione was seen talking and handing cash to Serpent.

"Riverdale" season 1, episode 5 titled "Heart of Darkness" will air on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 9 p.m. EST. on The CW.
