HP SlateBook 10 x2 Rumored Specs Include Tegra 4, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean

Hewlett-Packard (HP) has not given up on easing its way into the tablet market after the 2011 HP Touchpad failure. New reports suggest that HP is working on another tablet dubbed the HP SlateBook 10 x2.

The HP SlateBook is said to run stock Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean right out of the box. HP previously featured Windows 8 software in its HP Envy x2 PC/tablet hybrid. It's speculated that the inclusion of "Book" into the device name may indicate that there may be a keyboard dock, making it similar to HP's all-in-one, HP Envy x2.

According to the German website, TabTech, the HP Slatebook 10 x2 features high-end specs and top level benchmark results. NVIDIA's 1.8GHz quad-core Tegra 4 processor that powers the 10.1-inch tablet scored 27,259 in an Antutu benchmark test. No other specs were provided about the display's resolution or camera or battery life.

HP released its affordable 7-inch HP Slate 7 Android tablet this month which retails for just $169. The HP SlateBook 10 x2 is expected to be its successor and will compete with other 10-inch tablets including the iPad and the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet from Samsung. If it proves to be a hybrid device, it will go up against ASUS' VivoTab Smart. The HP Slate 7 itself is not too shabby specs-wise to challenge other affordable mid-sized tablets. With its 1.6 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM and a display resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, it goes up against Kindle Fire and the newly released Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.

As for the SlateBook 10 x2, the reports appear to indicate that it may be another tablet/PC hybrid device like the HP Envy x2, but will feature Android instead of Windows 8 as found on the Envy x2 and an NVIDIA processor. As reported by Unwired, there has not been an official announcement from HP about the SlateBook 10 x2.
